ABOUT ME

Ana Masley is a film student residing in metropolitan Arizona working to earn a bachelor’s degree under the Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University.
Growing up, Ana spent her days writing and telling stories, making music videos, and directing faux commercials. Today, she focuses her energy on screenwriting and directing as well as production designing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ana was tasked to create a short film only relying on those in her inner circle. Due to various immunocompromised family members, this meant Ana wrote, directed, starred in, and edited the film herself with the help of her mom for some long trips to various shooting locations. The film, titled Far From Normal (2020) gave Ana the confidence to continue in the Film and Media Program of the Sidney Poitier New American Film School at ASU.
She quickly secured. her first job as costume designer in 2021 on a California based production filming here in Arizona titled Billie The Kid (2022), directed by Paul Tomborello with Green Apple Entertainment. Ana later worked with Tomborello again in Malibu, CA in 2022 as a Second Unit Costume Designer on a project titled Alien Shark (2022). Ana quickly grew a love for art department for the creative input and hands on work. In addition to these two features, Ana recently worked on short films such as I Want You To Live (2022) and Ari (2022) as Art Director, and Remission (2022) as Production Designer.
As a director, Ana drives herself to create under a variety of circumstances, crew sizes, and time frames. Over the summer of 2022, Ana CoDirected a short film titled Slushed (2022) as part of a 48-hour challenge. This meant that conceptualization, writing, filming, and editing all took place in just two days. This film has since gone on to screen in a New York film festival at which it was nominated for various awards and granted honorary mention. Ana also CoDirected a horror short of the summer of 2022 titled Trails End Drive.
While these were both films completed in much shorter time frames, Ana recently completed her thesis film at ASU titled Twenty Four Hours (2022). This project was written, directed, and editing by Ana over several semesters. She grew a wonderful team who supported her throughout this journey and guided Ana through an excellent learning opportunity. Ana has also directed and edited two short documentaries titled Enough (2022) and Overturned (2022). She is also currently working directing and editing a documentary following the making of a fellow filmmaker's first feature.
As an editor, Ana has edited a trailer for short film Trail's End Drive (2022) directed by Ana Masley and Meghan McCullin as well as CoEditing Slushed (2022). She has also acted in a number of short films such as Far From Normal (2020), Getaway (2022), Slushed (2022), Trail's End Drive (2022), and Influence (2022).
Ana's passion for filmmaking leaves her craving time on set in whatever way possible. This past year, Ana was Script Supervisor for shorts Strings (2022) and Anhedonia (2022) as well as 2nd Unit grip for short film Mortem (2022).
